They do not have a membrane, but are DWR (Durable Water Repellent) treated. This makes the trousers dirt and water repellent because the water pearls up on the surface of the fabric and drips off or evaporates instead of soaking in. The trousers have ventilation zips on the back of the thighs and on the legs, and the vents have netting to prevent anything
