A native of Kensington, Maryland, Lieutenant Mitchell Jamieson attended Central High School, the Abbott School of Fine and Commercial Arts, as well as the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D. C. He was later commissioned to paint for the Treasury Art Projects program. Upon the onset of World War II, Jamieson was, once again, commissioned to paint;
